Thigh Lift & Buttock Lift
Overview (Thigh Lift & Buttock Lift)
This operation reduces the amount of loose skin and fat on your thighs and/or buttocks. When both thighs and buttocks are operated on, it is sometimes known as a lower body lift. Loose skin in these areas is most common after substantial weight loss, which may result in loose, sagging skin that can not be improved through regular physical activity and a healthy balanced diet. A thigh lift and/or buttock lift will raise and tighten the skin.
For an inner thigh lift Mr Nduka may make cuts high up in the inner thighs, while for an outer thigh and buttock lift the cuts may run just above your buttocks (so they will not show when you are wearing a swimsuit). Excess skin and fat are removed through the cuts and the remaining skin is stitched up. Sometimes the operation is performed in combination with liposuction.
Thigh and buttock lift surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic. You may need to stay in a hospital for a day or two. You will also need to plan time off work so that you can relax and recover at home. After a thigh lift or buttock lift, you will need to wear a compression garment to help reduce the swelling and assist in the shrinking and tightening of the skin. There is always scarring after the operation, although Mr Nduka will do his best to make scars as unobtrusive as possible. The position of the scars will depend on where the surgical cuts have been made. Mr Nduka will discuss this with you prior to your operation.
All operations carry risks as well as benefits. The chance of complications following thigh and buttock lift surgery depends on the type of operation. Also other factors such as your general health. Mr Nduka will explain how the risks apply to you.
