Weight loss, pregnancy, and breastfeeding can also be contributory factors. A breast uplift, known as a mastopexy, is an operation to raise and re-shape your breasts.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike reduction surgery, breast uplift does not aim to change the size of the breasts but to restore a more youthful and attractive shape to the breasts.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the technique used, breast uplift should not interfere with breastfeeding, making it an option for women who have not completed their family.<\/p>\n<p>During the breast lift operation, Mr Nduka removes excess skin from around the areola (the\u00a0pigmented area\u00a0surrounding the nipple) and sometimes from under your breasts. This creates a tighter cone of breast tissue and your nipple is moved to a higher position to give a more youthful and firm appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Breast lift surgery is carried out under a general anaesthetic and you will usually need to stay in the hospital for a day or two following your mastopexy operation.\u00a0 It will take around 6 months for your breasts to settle into their final shape.<\/p>\n<p>Breast uplift typically produces scars around the areolas. In addition, you may have scars down to and along the breast crease. The amount of scarring can vary depending on your initial shape and Mr Nduka will explain the extent of scarring to expect.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to plan time off work so that you can relax and recover at home. All operations carry risks as well as benefits. The chance of complications following breast lift surgery depends on the type of operation and your general health.
