Chin Implants

Overview (Chin Implants)

A surgeon would typically use chin implants to treat a weak chin. It creates a better balance between the chin and nose in profile. A chin implant can give you a stronger jawline and improve the balance and proportion of your face. If you are looking for an improvement in your appearance, the chin implant is the right choice for you. This will give you a realistic expectation of your desired result. It helpsĀ to boost your confidence and make you feel more attractive.

The procedure is usually performed under general anaesthetic. During the operation, your chin will be built out depending on your need. The surgery will either be moving the chin forwards or by inserting an implant over the chin bone. The surgeon will either make an incision in your mouth, between your lower lip and gum, or in a natural crease in your chin. The implant is made from silicon although in some instances it may be necessary to use a bone graft.

Dissolvable stitches will be used if the surgeon cuts inside your mouth and your chin will be bandaged for up to 10 days. You will experience some discomfort and swelling in the affected area for several days and there will also be some bruising. This will recede after a number of days.

The consultant will take you through all the risks and benefits associated with this type of procedure. It is important to talk through your expectations with Mr Nduka before the procedure.
