Please read below some of the most common questions;

  • Will a tummy tuck address the fat above my belly button?

    A full tummy tuck would definitely address the issue of subcutaneous fat and would give you better results as it will also tighten your skin along the abdomen. This would give you a better body contour.

  • Does the belly button heal slowly after a Tummy Tuck, should I be concerned?

    It not uncommon for the belly button to heal at a slower rate than the rest of your abdominal region. Its important to keep the incisions clean and hygienic throughout the healing process to prevent an infection.

  • Can a tummy tuck still be done if you have a c-section?

    It is not uncommon to have patients who've undergone c-section then tummy tuck. There are no issues regarding whether you've had c-section or not. In fact the tethering of the scar which can create a “shelf” is a common reason that women are unhappy with their abdominal contour.

  • Can I get a tummy tuck and a breast uplift at the same time?

    It may well be possible but without an assessment of the amount of tissue to remove and your general health it’s hard to say.

  • What is the average recovery time of a tummy tuck?

    Usually, it takes 2 weeks for the bruising to go and the incisions to be healed. By 4 weeks you can do light exercise. By 6 weeks you should be feeling yourself. There is often some numbness. It takes around 4-6 months for your body to fully heal. However, patients are already cleared for light works like desk jobs after the first 2-3 weeks. There is no definite time as to when patients will fully recover from surgery as each individual has his/her own healing rate.

  • Can I do abdominal exercise after muscles repair and tummy tuck?

    At 6 weeks to 3 months post-op, patients are generally cleared to get back to their normal exercise routine. However, it wold be best to consult with your surgeon first as each patient is different and the answer depends on the type of procedure performed.

  • Are mini tummy tucks with muscle repair usually successful?

    If the muscle separates above the belly button, then you would only benefit from a full tummy tuck. Having a mini tummy tuck would only get rid of loose skin on the lower abdominal region, which will not really improve the contour on your upper abdomen. A full tummy tuck with muscle repair would be your best option. An in-person examination will help to clarify which option is best.

  • I am 5 weeks post op mini tummy tuck with muscle repair. No problems with recovery but I am constantly bloated and my stomach is swollen

    There are a few causes of post op swelling. Use of pain killers containing codeine may cause constipation and bloating. I minority of patients develop a seroma, which is an accumulation of fluids which can be drained in the office using a needle and syringe.. It would be best to schedule an appointment with your surgeon for an in-person examination.
